Situated beneath the low cliff of Kaipak at the foot of Sweden's highest mountain – Giebmegáisi – this station has a special place in Swedish mountaineering history. The first building was erected in 1907 in the form of a stone-hut in the Alpine style, and this has been expanded upon in several phases since then; at the moment the complex offers accommodation in six separate buildings, with varying standard and atmosphere. The station includes a restaurant, a bakery, a well-stocked shop, and a sports center with equipment rental. The latter is housed in a large service building with ample cooking and seating facilities, and separate saunas. Guided tours and courses are held in both summer and winter, and the most popular one is the more or less daily expedition to the South Peak via the eastern trail during the summer season; it is also common for people to make the ascent on their own, usually choosing the western trail. In the winter there is a regular snowmobile shuttle the brings visitors to and from Nikkaluokta, and in the summer the same service is provided by way of helicopter, at a higher price.
